Houston, We Have a Problem

The excavation continues as we begin day three with a wimper. Apparently the soil is too soft and sandy for the bobcat to dig much deeper than the photos below. There is an issues of spinning wheels and a stuck bobcat. My choices are to stop digging now and have a five foot deep pool or let the excavation crew continue digging by hand at an additional $250 per hour to get to the planned seven foot depth. The order has been to given to dig it by hand!

All projects of this magnitude have cost overruns and hopefully this will be the only significant one. My contract even has a clause for just such a contigency...how convenient! And so it begins. The estimate is six hours...you do the math.
